Brainhunter is currently seeking the services of a " Construction Supervisor " for a contract role with one of our Valued Clients
    • Contract duration: 3 years
    • Rate: Market rate depends on experience.
    • End client: NB Power
    • Work hours: 50/week (10hrs / day)
    • Must be a Powerline Technician with 10+ years of experience.
    • Project Name: Saint John Corridor Transmission Line project

We have an opportunity at New Brunswick (St. John Area) for a full time Construction Supervisor. Preference will be given to candidates with resumes that clearly meet experience and requirements below. The CS003 position is for a full time Construction Supervisor to provide support for the Saint John Corridor Transmission Line project.

Must be a Powerline Technician with 10+ years of experience.
• Work Location: St. John, NB
• Project Name: Saint John Corridor Transmission Line project
• Hours : 50/week (10hrs / day)
• Duration: May 4 th , 2026, to December 31 st , 2028 (~ 3 years)
• Start : May 4, 2026
• Preference given to local candidates to NB or candidates willing to relocate to NB (No per diem or relocation cost)
• Resumes needed by: March 13 th (Security clearance not required)
• Resume to include candidates home address (or willingness to relocate) and confirm May 4, 2026, works as start date
• Range : No range provided by client as it will depend on candidates' years of experience in construction supervisory roles
Must have experience in construction and/or maintenance management for transmission line projects.
Previous work experience at NB Power, resource management and transmission line maintenance would be considered an asset.

Scope of Work:

Preference will be given to candidates with resumes that clearly indicated experience mentioned below .

    • The Saint John Corridor project includes the construction of a new double circuit 138 kV Transmission Line, a 138 kV radial tap line within the greater Saint John area, the Coleson Cove Terminal Expansion and the Norton Phase Shifter. The construction activities have started this winter and will continue to the end of 2028. The scope of the work the resource would be working on would be focused on the transmission line construction activities.
    • On-site construction supervisor required for duration of project. Will be required to be on site during all field work, with the work happening year-round. When not on site, it may be required to help plan during slow construction periods for subsequent year construction.
    • The Construction supervisor will be responsible for all transmission line construction related work and will have additional construction resources working for them during peak times, including Field Operations Specialists and Permit Coordinators.

Schedule:
• May 2026 - Aug 2026 - 50% on site, 50% in office, 5 days a week
• Sept 2026 - Dec 2026 - 75% on site, 25% planning, depending on work progress
• January 2027 - Dec 2028 - 100% on site 5+ days a week, potential gaps allowed for planning as it arises
• Workdays will range from 8-12 hours a day (Average is 10hrs/day)
    • On-site requirement days/week will be based on contractor schedules - yet to be determined.

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR JD:

General Functions

The Construction Supervisor acts on behalf of NB Power and is responsible for planning and execution of work at the construction site. This includes managing all site activities, conducting site meetings and regular reporting to the Project Manager. A Construction Supervisor is typically assigned to small and medium size projects.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
• Primary workplace is office on site.
• Responsible for planning site mobilization.
• Responsible for planning construction execution.
• Directs, manages and coordinates all activities on site.
• Conducts regular site meetings.
• Supervises contractors on site.
• Coordinates with Materials Planner to arrange for materials to be provided to a contractor by NB Power.
• Monitors, evaluates and reports progress against construction schedule.
• Ensures quality of the work and deficiency identification and correction.
• Works with site leads to identify required materials and equipment, coordinating with material planner and workgroup supervisors.
• Ensures safety and security of site.
• Regular progress reporting to Project Manager.
• Identifies change requests. If no impact to scope, cost or schedule, deals with change. Otherwise change requests escalated to Project Manager.
• Responsible for enforcing Field Change Authorization process with on-site contractors.
• May be responsible for communicating with landowners and stakeholders where required.
• Ensures that any environmental and quality control protection requirements on site are carried out.
• Assists Project Manager with project closeout activities.

Mandatory Requirements
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership role within construction projects.
• A minimum of five (5) years' field experience in an industrial environment.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.

Education and Experience Preferences
• Relevant experience with preference given to NB Power specific construction supervision experience.
• Experience in excess of three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in a leadership role within construction projects.
• Experience in excess of five (5) years field experience an industrial environment.
• Proficiency in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel).

Key Competencies Preferences
• Well-developed interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing requirements to a wide range of client groups (internal and external).
• Skilled in coaching of co-workers and contractors, negotiation, mediation of disputes or differences of opinion and conflict resolution.
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently or in a team environment and provide leadership, support, direction, and consultation to a wide range of people.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills to meet project deadlines.
• Willing to travel, participate in activities, network and build relationships.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to organize, analyze and report on various parameters and data sets.
• Ability to learn to use new tools and adapt existing tools to the task at hand.
• Ability to communicate in both English and French would be considered an asset.
• Ability to proactively detect challenges to safety, quality, cost and schedule that will ensure development and execution of effective prevention, mitigation, or corrective actions.
