What will your typical day look like?

Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.
  • Provide career development guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that emphasizes continuous learning and improvement and conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and assist with career path planning.
Technical Leadership
  • Oversee the technical build of products, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to best practices and company standards.
  • Ensure the team is delivering solutions that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical issues, and work with the team to resolve these.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve the team's productivity and software quality. Ensure these are properly documented and kept up to date.
  • Encourage and support the development of components that are built in reusable way and can be leveraged across many products.
Resource Management
  • Understand the needs of new product teams, support the estimation of product build, and pull together the right mix of resources for an efficient and high quality team.
  • Monitor team progress and remove technical roadblocks to maximize success.
  • Ensure team members are contributing to the overall strategy and mandate.
Hiring & Team Growth
  • Define future team needs and participate in recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent.
  • Promote an environment that encourages innovation and attracts diverse perspectives and ideas.

About the team

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of software engineers, ensuring that our engineering practices, processes, and tools are optimized for both productivity and quality. You will play a pivotal role in building, mentoring, and guiding engineers to deliver scalable and high-performance software. You'll work closely with other leaders, including product, architecture, design, and quality groups, to align engineering efforts with business goals.
You will provide Engineering oversight across a portfolio of diverse products, and are accountable for the technical quality of these products. This includes ensuring Tech Leads and teams follow best practices and processes, and are equipped with the right tooling. Working with a group of highly technical individuals, you will identify areas for improvement and leverage industry best practices to continuously improve and strengthen our Engineering practice. You will report directly to the CTO, and work closely to establish our strategy and vision for the Engineering team.

• Proven ability to lead a highly talent software engineering team and to manage people effectively. This includes the ability to coach and develop the team.
• A thorough understanding of the strategic vision for Engineering and the ability to set the long-term direction and growth of the team.
• Knowledge and understanding of software engineering industry best practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of major cloud platforms, including CICD and common architectures.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong experience building and releasing software products from the ground up using tech like React and Python.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $104,000 - $215,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
