Software Development Engineers will be responsible for design, development, delivery and support of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and tools.

Key job responsibilities
  • Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications.
  • Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and roll-out system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.
  • Must be able to design code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.
  • Must be able to effectively collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization.
  • Provide on-call production support for payment platform applications


About the team
We are responsible for enabling new ways of paying for Amazon customers. A very simple example is when you are buying a pair of shoes from Amazon or when you are paying for your AWS account usage or when you are starting your music subscription, anywhere in the world. You select the service or item you want to buy, then you are presented with a list of payment methods. This is just a use case where our team's services are involved. Our team's goal is to keep extending the list of different ways of paying for our customers while always raising the bar in availability and security.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science related fields OR 1+ years equivalent experience in software development

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience;
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 3+ years professional experience in software development.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters in Computer Science or related area or equivalent industry experience
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures.
  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Experience working with large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed applications.
  • Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Scala, C, C++, Java, or Perl.
