Job Description
We're looking for a Purchasing Officer to join our Purchasing Services team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the effective procurement of goods and services of moderate complexity, in accordance with WorkSafeBC policies, and legislative requirements.
Your responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining related documentation and acting as an information resource and liaison between WorkSafeBC departments and providers.
This is a permanent position at the Richmond Office.

In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

As a Purchasing Officer you will:
- Provide advice and assistance to internal departments in the development of competitive documents, respond to provider requests for clarification, and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the process is maintained
- Use verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external clients
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the supply of materials and services for assigned projects
- Recommend, develop, and implement strategic buying methods to reduce purchasing costs
- Identify, prioritize, and schedule multiple and concurrent tasks, both independently and as part of a team, in an environment of changing priorities and deadlines
- Prepare and present technical information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, to audiences with varying levels of understanding
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, external service providers, management and work teams in a confident, objective and diplomatic manner
- Analyze information, anticipate problems/opportunities, set priorities, create, evaluate and negotiate alternative solutions in a diplomatic manner and make appropriate decisions/recommendations
- Apply standard purchasing principles, policies, and procedures
- Completion of year 1 of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) of the Supply Chain Management Professional program or working toward or have one of the following designations: 1) Designation from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply in the United Kingdom, 2) Designation from the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) / American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), 3) Certified Public Purchasing Officer Certificate (CPPO), 4) Certified Supply Chain Professionals, 5) International Association of Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM)
- A minimum of 27 months of work experience in a clerk/administrative assistant type role in an office environment with a minimum of 12 months in a purchasing and/or supply chain environment.

- Successfully meet two different criminal record clearances; one of which meets the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults
