The Lead Production Manager willbe responsible for the effective management of a team, planning projects,scheduling work, completing tasks within specified timelines and on budget. TheLead Production Manager will also be required to coordinate with others toensure that client' operating and production policies, protocols and procedures arefollowed, consistent with Client'SOP's, GMP requirements, ACMPR and otherlegislative requirements. The incumbent will help identify monitoring needs andperform monitoring activities to minimize compliance risk and will conductreviews and investigations on specific production issues. The Lead Production Manager will beresponsible to coordinate production activities within budget expectations.


DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the daily oversight of the Company's unique growing program, creating and communicating updates and plans to the management team.
  • Working with and leading the Production Supervisors to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Horticulture team.
  • Leading weekly meetings with the Horticulture staff and articulating departmental priorities on a daily/weekly basis; ensuring work plans are designed and executed in conjunction with priorities.
  • Developing and implementing production plans and creating standard operating procedures in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Compliance teams.
  • Responsible for overall crop management, including overseeing the climate and irrigation control systems and pest and disease control.
  • Management of the Horticulture team; hiring and training and supervision to build out the department and ensure that all personnel receive ongoing instruction and evaluation, while continually expanding their diverse skill sets.
  • Providing the Horticulture team with guidance and coaching on best practices in plant care techniques.
  • Working with Human Resources on coordinating Horticulture Apprenticeship opportunities with post-secondary institutes.
  • Participating in research and development projects related to growing and equipment.
  • Participating in a range of activities beyond the typical work day, including travel, events and programs as approved by your direct report.
  • Working with Processing and Quality Assurance/Quality Control to coordinate and complete appropriate harvest cycles.
  • Generate and maintain all documentation in accordance to standard operating procedures (SOP) and Good Production/Growing/and Manufacturing practices (GPP, GGP and GMP)
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are met for premises and equipment used for cultivation, harvest, preparation, packaging, storage, infusion and sale of marijuana are maintained in clean and sanitary conditions.
  • Assist Health Canada auditors with inventory, sales and compliance audits
  • Other duties as assigned by RPIC

    Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or similar degree
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a senior management and production role, preferable with a licensed producer or large greenhouse or nursery operation (produce, flowers or ornamental plants or a combination of education and experience
  • Strong organizational skills having managed multiple employees and teams.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Health Canada (HC) security Clearance (previous HC Security Clearance is an asset)
  • Strong bias to action and focus on execution in pursuit of client'common goals, objectives and Production targets within set timelines.
  • Proven expertise encompassing greenhouse system design, plant nutrition, crop and pest management, greenhouse IT systems, software sensors and controls
  • Demonstrated experience with Hazard Awareness & Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) systems would be an asset
  • Full and complete understanding of agriculture related products
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment processes and options.
  • Must have accountability, proactive behavior, strong attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate the leadership necessary to support and reinforce the organization's policies and values.
  • Works well alone and in a team environment
  • Good communication and documentation skills
