The role of Integrated Pest ManagementSpecialist is to monitor the plants for disease or harmful pests and to respondto threats. The IPM specialist willachieve this goal by using a range of options from careful examination ofplants and surrounding area, analyzing disease pressure profile, deployingpreventative biological controls and responding to outbreaks. He will work closely with the Lead Grower onall issues.

Core Competencies:

  • Computer knowledge in regards todocumenting Scout data in appropriate logs
  • Pesticide applicators license
  • Ability to monitor pest ecosystems toevaluate the presence of pest species, natural pest predators and conditionsthat may contribute to pest problems
  • Strong organization skills and attention todetail.
  • Knowledge and compliance with GPP, GMP andGLP.


  • Responsibilities:



  • Surveys and inspects crop for evidence ofdisease or harmful pests
  • Utilize traps allowable chemical andnon-chemical methods to manage pests
  • Oversee and maintain the gathering ofdetailed IPM records
  • Provides expertise, assistance and trainingto staff about pest biology
  • Mixes, applies and monitors variousrecommended chemicals, fertilizers, compounds and baits to be used to treat,eliminate or control specific conditions found
  • Implements pest control measures inaccordance with Health Canada
  • Requisitions and evaluates needed suppliesand keeps records of chemicals
  • Scouting and documenting scout data inappropriate logs. Follow up actionsrequired based on results
  • Biological pest ordering/administering
  • IPM Inventory (Pesticide/Fungicides/StickyTraps/Biologicals)
  • Sticky Trap replacement and monitoring
  • Spray applications that require a pesticideapplicators license
  • Prevention actions like sulfur burning andthe planning that goes into it with all production rooms. Coordinating with production lead toimplement a schedule.
  • Assist grow teams to mechanically defoliatecrops that require it due to pest/pathogen issues
  • All data collection in regards to IPM logsincluding assisting QA to establish and perform pest/pathogen investigations
  • Status label adjustment outside productionrooms that should notify staff of any particular outbreaks. Regular maintenance of such bulletins
  • Monitoring and Responsibility for properstorage conditions of receiving items (cold rooms or fridges)
  • Weekly reports sent to Production Lead
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Grower


  • Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent
  • IPM Knowledge
  • Experience using biological applications
  • Strong attention to detail and willingnessto learn new things
  • Experience with inventory control systems(an asset)
