We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Environmental Services Worker/Cook position at the Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre - Xaayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay.
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES WORKER:
In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs a variety of environmental services duties throughout the facility. Maintains clean and disinfected conditions in areas such as patient/resident/client rooms, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory, Labour and Delivery Rooms, washrooms, corridors, hallways, lounges, offices, and common areas used by staff, visitors and patients/residents/clients as established in Northern Health Regional Environmental Services Policies and Processes.
COOK I:
In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and working within the scope of Regional Northern Health (NH) Policies and Processes, the NH Regional Food Safety Plan and the NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position performs duties related to the preparation and cooking of food items; portioning and serving food, washing and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and designated cooking/workstations. Responsible for assigning tasks to designated Food Service Workers.
Environmental Services Worker - $25.82 per hour. Cook 1 - $29.24 per hour
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 06:00 to 14:00, 10:30 to 23:30, 16:00 to 20:08, 16:00 to 20:55, 07:00 to 16:00, Rotating
Float positions fall under Article 16.11 of the collective agreement and don't follow all language of the collective agreement. Applying on this posting confirms that applicants are aware of the float position language prior to applying.
Qualfications
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES WORKER:
• Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
COOK I:
• Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
