Job Description:

Reporting to the VP, FCRM Governance and Regulatory Matters, Canada this AVP oversees the FCRM Governance & Control Function (1B).

Individual Role Accountabilities and Decision Authorities / Breadth, Depth & Scope
  • Owns, develops and matures the Enterprise Financial Crime Risk Management Governance and Control program including all risk types applicable to FCRM; Such risk types include but are not limited to Operational Risk, Reputational Risk, Regulatory Compliance Risk, Model Risk and change initiatives
  • Develops, owns and executes the program for ongoing monitoring over FCRM first line activities
  • Develops and owns the requirements for the oversight of AML / Sanctions / ABAC by first line governance control functions as outlined in the applicable 1B standards
  • Participates in new risk and control initiatives deployed by TD (such as risk acceptance, heightened standards etc.)
  • Represents FCRM at various enterprise governance and control committees and liaises with the enterprise and control functions to align and support on TD's strategy.
  • Contributes to the strategy and long-term planning activities for FCRM.
  • Fosters a continuous improvement mindset and proposes enhancements to the program informed by industry trends and best practices.
  • Prepares various reporting for stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders as required.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.

Team Management
  • Responsible for management of the overall team providing both leadership, guidance, and expertise; ensures team adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies
  • Supports team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts to the Bank
  • Leads a high performing team; provides on-going feedback and performance reviews, coaches and develops employees, and ensures performance management activities are undertaken and completed for all employees
  • Leads the process of setting performance objectives for the team; tracks, monitors, and effectively addresses and/or rewards performance in a timely manner
  • Manages employees in compliance with all human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines of conduct
  • Supports an environment where team freely escalates business challenges; facilitates change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes
  • Recruits for all hires to ensure a highly diverse, qualified workforce to achieve business objectives
  • Establishes and fosters a cohesive team; promotes a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourages the team to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Acts as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank

Skills, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 10+ Years of risk management and/or Operations Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and ability to tailor messaging to senior management
  • Excellent relationship management, including prior experience communicating with external regulatory agencies
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and explain complex workflows
  • Self-starter who can work independently with little guidance or direction
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while working in a flexible environment
  • Highly analytical - able to work with large data sets and workflows
  • Strong risk acumen - challenges the status quo; has a sense of where things could go wrong and proactively manages to avoid / minimize the risks
  • Proven ability in leveraging deep risk expertise to align teams to a central vision, while also listening and engaging others to provide input in the shaping of that vision
  • Strong work ethic and ability to execute with speed
  • Recruits top talent; manages and motivates a diverse group of professionals
  • Strong people leader who possesses the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders and to influence and align others
