Job Description

Qualitative Research & Leadership Assessments

Are you an excellent writer with a background in qualitative research, psychology, organizational development, or leadership assessments?
Do you enjoy interviewing people, uncovering meaningful insights, and transforming complex information into clear, thoughtful, and impactful reports?

This is a unique opportunity to join a highly respected leadership consulting firm where your research, analytical thinking, and writing skills will directly contribute to the development of senior leaders and executives across North America.

If you enjoy combining qualitative research, professional writing, and meaningful client interaction, this could be an excellent next step in your career.

The Company
Our client is an established and growing professional services and consulting firm that partners with organizations across Canada and internationally to strengthen leadership capability, enhance organizational effectiveness, and support the development of high-performing teams.
Operating within the broader people advisory, talent development, and organizational consulting space, the firm provides specialized services that combine research, assessment, strategic advisory, and professional development.

Known for its collaborative, values-driven culture and commitment to delivering high-quality client solutions, the organization has built an excellent reputation for providing thoughtful, practical insights that help individuals and businesses achieve meaningful results.

With a close-knit team of experienced professionals, the company offers a supportive, intellectually engaging environment where employees are encouraged to contribute ideas, take ownership of their work, and play an active role in shaping processes and improving client outcomes.
As the organization continues to expand its research and assessment capabilities, they are looking for a talented 360 Writer to join their team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, insight-driven reports.

What – the Role
This is a full-time, permanent 360 Writer position reporting to the Director of 360 Assessments.

The role combines qualitative research, professional writing, stakeholder interviewing, editorial review, and client engagement.

Working closely with executive coaches, leadership consultants, and fellow writers, the successful candidate will manage 360 assessment engagements from initial interviews through to the delivery of comprehensive, executive-level reports.

These assessments involve gathering confidential feedback from individuals who work closely with a leader, identifying recurring themes, and translating those insights into thoughtful, balanced, and actionable reports that support leadership growth and development.

A typical assessment engagement runs approximately 6–8 weeks, giving the writer the opportunity to become deeply involved in the research, analysis, and reporting process.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting confidential, semi-structured interviews with executives, managers, peers, and other professional stakeholders
  • Analyzing qualitative interview feedback to identify recurring themes, patterns, strengths, and development opportunities
  • Producing comprehensive, professionally written 360 assessment reports that communicate complex findings clearly and objectively
  • Applying structured qualitative research methodologies to ensure findings are accurate, balanced, and well-supported
  • Managing assessment engagements from interview scheduling through to final report delivery
  • Reviewing, editing, and proofreading reports prepared by other writers to maintain exceptional quality and consistency
  • Collaborating with executive coaches and leadership consultants to ensure reports provide meaningful, actionable insights
  • Supporting and mentoring fellow writers through editorial feedback, training, and knowledge sharing
  • Contributing to the development of writing standards, research methodologies, templates, and training resources
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, quality assurance, and overall departmental effectiveness
  • Maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information

This is not a traditional content writing or creative writing position. It is a research-driven, analytical writing role that requires intellectual curiosity, strong interviewing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex human feedback.

It is an opportunity to combine research and writing expertise with meaningful, client-facing work that directly supports the professional development of senior leaders.

Who – the Candidate
Our client is seeking a thoughtful, analytical, and highly articulate professional with exceptional writing abilities and a strong foundation in qualitative research, interviewing, or assessment reporting.
The successful candidate will be naturally curious, confident engaging with senior professionals, and skilled at translating complex information into clear, structured, and insightful written reports.

This role is best suited to someone who demonstrates:
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in qualitative research, professional report writing, assessment reporting, organizational development, leadership consulting, or a related field
  • Exceptional professional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to structure, clarity, tone, and accuracy
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews and synthesizing findings into meaningful, actionable insights
  • An understanding of qualitative research methodologies, including thematic analysis, coding, and interview-based research
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns and draw well-supported conclusions from complex information
  • Confidence conducting professional interviews and engaging with senior leaders, executives, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build rapport while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines
  • A high degree of independence, adaptability, and comfort working in an evolving, collaborative environment
  • Experience reviewing or editing the work of others and providing constructive feedback
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration tools

A bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social sciences, organizational psychology, qualitative research, communications, human resources, counselling, or a related discipline would be preferred.
A master's degree, particularly one involving qualitative research, interviewing, or human-centred research, would be considered a strong asset.

Experience within qualitative research, organizational psychology, behavioural research, leadership development, employee engagement, talent assessment, executive coaching, counselling, government research, or organizational consulting environments would be highly desirable.
Previous experience writing 360 assessment reports would be an asset but is not essential.

What matters most is the ability to conduct thoughtful interviews, analyze qualitative information, produce exceptional written work, and engage confidently with professional clients.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, values intellectual rigour, and wants to apply their research and writing expertise to meaningful leadership development work.

How Much
Competitive compensation is anticipated in the range of $80,000–$85,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Our client offers a competitive total rewards package that recognizes individual contributions, supports professional development, and promotes a healthy work-life balance.

The total rewards package includes:
  • Annual performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Annual compensation reviews with opportunities for salary progression
  • Employer-supported retirement savings program
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and life insurance coverage
  • Financial support for remote working expenses
  • Generous and flexible paid time off policy
  • Additional paid time off during the holiday season
  • Fully remote working environment with flexibility around scheduling
  • Opportunities for continued professional development and career growth
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment with a strong emphasis on employee well-being

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established consulting organization that values its people and offers a competitive combination of compensation, flexibility, and meaningful professional development.

Where
This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere in Canada.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility in scheduling interviews with clients and stakeholders across North American time zones.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
