Casino New Brunswick is recruiting a First Cook to work with the Food & Beverage Team. The role of the First Cook is to prepare soups and sauces from the freshest ingredients as well as the ability to create special food items by request and prepare a la carte menu items for our restaurant and banquet functions.

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Knowledge of culinary aspects
    • Cleaning and organizing of all related work equipment and areas
    • Prepare food to quality and presentation standards
    • Preparation and stocking for daily operation
    • Prepping for banquet and a la carte menus
    • Banquet and a la carte cooking
    • Advanced soup and sauce preparation
    • Responsible for completing weekly order forms
    • Butchering of meats and poultry
    • Advanced soup and sauce preparation
    • Advanced dessert preparation
    • Food requisitions
    • Restocking, cleaning and organizing all related work equipment and areas
    • Positive and professional interaction between co-workers
    • Input ideas for new menu items
    • Portion control and quality of items
    • Ability to provide leadership for culinary team when required
    • Any other duties as assigned or directed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
    • Able to read, understand and follow recipes
    • Minimum two years experience in a high volume restaurant(s) and banquet experience
    • Valid Food Safe Certificate (Levels 1 and 2)
    • WHMIS is an asset
    • Outgoing, professional, customer driven individual with strong people skills
    • Must be a team player who works well with others with ability to work unsupervised
    • Good organizational skills
    • Dependable and reliable with a demonstrated commitment to service excellence
    • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, nights and weekends
    • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
